World in Winter

The World in Winter collective grew out of a group of friends based loosely in Sheffield, Manchester and Ashbourne, Derbyshire. In early 2005 - having gravitated towards London and built up a body of work – the World in Winter label was set up, releasing music by Angela Valid, Ashbourne’s Strongest Man and the guitarist Hotplate.

After a string of radio sessions, live events, good press and exposure - and having distributed the first two releases by bike - WiW hooked up with Baked Goods in Manchester, knocking out EP’s by Angela Valid and Chapters and the debut album from Hotplate.

With no specific musical approach, the label is “determined not to simply follow any trend but just release great records” (Pure Groove). WiW are set for more releases from James Rutledge and Dean McPhee, plus albums from Chapters and Angela Valid in the New Year.
